KIKT Leather Products
Never too late for creative inspiration
Commencing his leather products business in 1995, Todd Liddy holds a Certificate III in Leather Products from Douglas Mawson Institute of Technology in South Australia.
Driven to provide for his young family, Todd made a living in the hospitality industry and continued to make leather products, with his dream of establishing a successful small business.
Within a couple of years, the Australian government implemented a phased reduction in import tariffs for leather products and footwear, which unfortunately flooded the Australian market with cheap imported products.
In search of a new challenges and secure income, Todd applied for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and was selected to serve in the Royal Australian Signals Corps and commenced service in November 1999.
This led to seven deployment opportunities, including five tours of the Middle East, including multiple 7–9-month deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Although Todd continued to create designs and make leather products for family, friends, and work colleagues, he lost his creative drive in 2008.
It was only in the lead up to discharging from the ADF in January 2025 that Todd re-lit his creative fire and discovered that he could still produce quality, handmade leather products.
The process of creating has assisted Todd’s healing journey and allowed him to process and make sense of trauma residue built up over years of warlike deployments. Todd loves to create quality handmade products that last. His wife still wears the veg tan carved and stamped belt he made for her in 1995.
